School Band & Orchestra Made Simple
Starting school band or orchestra should be exciting. That’s why our rental program is designed with both parents and students in mind. Advantage Music, New York, has proudly partnered with local schools to make the process easy and affordable.
We work directly with many surrounding school districts to ensure students have access to instruments that meet program requirements. Just to name a few, we’ve partnered with:

We work closely with local school districts and receive their supply lists in advance, so we’re always stocked with the exact items teachers recommend. From sheet music, reeds, to valve oil and more. When you rent with us, you can feel confident knowing your child will have the right instrument and all the essential supplies to succeed from day one.

When you come in to rent, please bring a photo ID and a valid credit card. We’ll keep both on file for your rental account.
Instrument Rentals FAQ
Q: How much does it cost to rent an instrument?
A: Rental prices vary depending on the instrument, but we pride ourselves on offering affordable rates. See the link above.
Q: Do rentals include repairs and maintenance?
A: Yes. This falls under the damage protection category. Normal wear-and-tear repairs, adjustments, and maintenance are included in your rental agreement. This does not include malicious damage, missing parts, or broken strings. Our in-house technicians make sure every instrument stays in top playing condition.
Q: What if my child changes instruments?
A: No problem! If your child decides to switch from one instrument to another (for example, from trumpet to trombone, which is the same cost), we make exchanges simple and hassle-free.
Q: Do I need to buy accessories separately?
A: Yes. Accessories are sold separately. We stock all the recommended supplies like reeds, cork grease, valve oil, sheet music, cleaning kits, and much more.
Q: What sizes of string instruments are available?
A: We rent violins, violas, and cellos in all sizes, as well as string basses. Our staff can help measure your student to ensure the perfect fit. Please bring them with you the day of.
Q: Can I rent-to-own an instrument?
A: Yes! If you wish to buy out your rental at the end of the school year, we will provide you with a buy-out price.
Q: How long is the rental term?
A: Rentals run from the day you come in, until July 1st. As the return date approaches, we’ll send you a reminder letter and give you a courtesy call. If an instrument is returned late, a $25 per day late fee will apply.
